In an increasingly uncertain world, the role of cities is becoming more important.
Helsinki is an international city that is able to take care of everyone’s human rights.
A childhood and youth with dignity
Every child and young person has the right to realise their dreams and live without fear. Adequate numbers of safe adults in kindergartens and schools. Support for learning for everyone who needs it. More physical textbooks in schools.
A dignified everyday life
Everyone must have access to care within a week. Housing is a human right. Easy access to mental health services. A life with dignity, even for the chronically ill.
Ageing with dignity
Services for the elderly must be guaranteed so that there is no need to fear ageing. Access to more demanding care must be available regardless of the thickness of the wallet.
A Decent Working Life
Fair pay and fair working conditions. Helsinki must ensure that it values its employees in deeds, not just in rhetoric.
A decent life for future generations too
Local nature is the right of every city dweller, and low-cost public transport is a climate act. Emissions must be brought down and global warming must be tackled.
VERONIKA
Veronika is an uncompromising defender of human rights, who does not remain silent even when the majority is. In Helsinki City Council since 2013.
